YULONDA OGUNS-FOSTER

Yulonda Rena Tubbs was born October 3, 1971 in Houston, Texas to the parentage of Chester Tubbs and Lizia Burch-Tubbs.

Yulonda attended Ross Shaw Sterling High School. After high school, she gained employment with Texas Children’s Hospital.  She attended Houston Community  College where she obtained her Certified Nursing Assistant certification. Thereafter, she began working for the United States Postal Service and later retired, medically. She then attended Franklin Beauty School where she earned her cosmetologist license. She remained in the cosmetology field until Covid-19 pandemic restrictions prevented her from continuing her extraordinary work at Smart Style Hair Salon.

She accepted Christ at North Houston Church of Christ at a young age, where she attended with her mother and siblings until young adulthood. As she continued to follow Christ, she began attending Bellfort Church of Christ until health challenges prevented her attendance.  

Yulonda was a loving mother, sister, friend and colleague to many. She enjoyed           socializing with family and friends. She was truly a people’s person. She had a smile and a laugh that always lit up a room. Affectionately known to her friends and family as “Moosie” or “Yo-Yo”,  Yulonda truly had a giving spirit.

On January 10, 2024, Yulonda was called to eternal rest. She  was preceded in  death by her mother, Lizia Burch-Tubbs; sister (Donna Bryant); two brothers (Darrick Tubbs, Eric Boutte);  brother-in-law (Tommy Bryant), sister-in-law (Brandi Boutte) and god-father (Lorenzo Jackson).

Left to reminisce on her life and celebrate her memory are her son, Tevin Foster;        father, Chester Tubbs; siblings, Jackie Jackson (Clifford), Jennifer Collins (Roy),    Chester Wayne Tubbs (Beonka), Ericka Horton (Ernest), Chenet Boutte,  Derick Tubbs; god-mother, Gladys Jackson; best friends, Tonya Haynes (Kevin); Beverly Coleman, Bessie Hopkins, and  a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
