Wilma Joyce Jones was born on November 28, 1948 in Washington County, Texas to the parentage of Reese Jones and Addie Sanford. She attended Miller Junior High, Jack Yates High School and furthered her education at Durham Business School.
At an early age, Wilma accepted Christ and was baptized by her father, Reverend Robert Sanford. She maintained her faith throughout her life and was a consistent attendee in worship services. Under the leadership of her dad, Reverend Robert Sanford, she united with New Mt. Zion Baptist Church on April 3, 1988. After his demise, she remained a faithful servant of God under the auspices of her son, Reverend John Blouin.
Wilma enjoyed traveling, singing, making flowers, watching movies and attending family gatherings. She was a member of the Red Hatter organization. For many years, she was employed by Continental Insurance and Continental Airlines, from which she retired.
On February 29, 2024, Sister Wilma entered into eternal rest. She was preceded in transition by her fathers (Reese Jones and Robert Sanford, Jr.).
Left to honor her life and cherish her memory are her children: Laquel Johnson; Sheree Roberts (Calvin), Pastor John Blouin (Shana), Robert Menefee; sixteen grand-children; four great-grandchildren; mother, Addie Sanford; two sisters, Pamela Wingham, Chante Smith, and a host of other relatives and friends.
