Obituary
On August 13, 1948 a handsome boy was born to Larry Davis Sr and
Queen Ester Roberts in Jasper, TX.
Depending on who you ask, you could call him “Willie”, or you could
call him “Carl”, or you could call him “Bear”, or you could call him
“Mack/McGovey”…didn’t matter to him, he would answer to them
all.
Willie accepted Christ at an early age at the Pleasant Grove Baptist
Church in Jasper, TX.
He attended J. H. Rowe High in Jasper and was a graduate of the Class
of 1966. He played football and was a pole vaulter. He joined Job Corp
in San Marcos, TX and later enlisted in the United States Army where he
served two years. Shortly after he returned from active duty, he united
in marriage with Jacqueline Whatley and two this union, two sons were
born.
He worked for many years as a truck driver where he retired from
Proler SW.
Willie loved to compete. He was an avid domino player and pool shark
and liked to talk noise. Everyone he came in contact with him wanted
to beat him and not many did.
He also loved softball. He spent many years playing with Budweiser
“Right On” and other teams over the years.
He was preceded in death by his Grandmother Dora Breed, Father Larry
Davis, Mother Queen Esther Roberts, Aunt Lee Esther Lank and his
brother Charles Roberts, Sisters Sue Frances Castle and Mary Beth
Castle.
He leaves to cherish his loving wife of 20 years, Children: Gregory,
Willie Jr (Tameka), Stormie (Prentiss) and Eboni, granddaughter, Kaylon,
grandsons, Cortez and Cornelius. Brothers: Larry ( Marabeth), Randle
(Debra) and Roman (Belinda) Sister: Lucinda, English Bulldog (Jasper)
and Grand Dogs (Browni and Zuri) and a host of cousins, nieces and
nephews.
