Obituary

Wilbert Lee Brown was born December 18,1941, to Albert, Sr. and Ella M. Brown. He was raised in the Ryan division of Fifth Ward and educated in the Houston Independent School District.  He graduate from Kashmere Senior High School.

In 1960, Wilber enlisted in the United State Navy. After serving 4 years i the Navy, he returned home and marries Joan Miller and this united bore 3 children; Cedricd, D'Andrea, and Tonya.

Wilber was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and served as a Youth Sunday School Teacher. He later became affiliated with Riceville Baptist Church and remained faithful until his health declined,

Wilbert was employed by Western Electric and Southern Bell, which later became AT & T. After retirement, he volunteered at Forester Elementary School Library for over 15 years.

Wilbert's dedication to service in his community saw him active in many roles. He volunteer efforts ranged form serving as a Football and Baseball Little League Coach with St. Mary's Association, to sponsoring and mentoring members of the Gulf Coast Club for many years. He was adored and loved by many, especially his grandkids and great- grandkids.

On November 14, 2022, Wilber exchanged his earthly life for his heavenly life. He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers (Alvin, Albert, Jr., Rufus, Sr., Bernice, Leon, and Lionell Brown), sister (Ruthie M. Wright), and 2 grandsons (Gregory C. Washington, Jr. and Gregory Bien This Jackson). Left to cherish his memory and honor his life are his life partner, Joan Brown; son Credicd Brown; daughters, D'Andrea Brown, and Tonya Brown Ilesamni (Abayomi); 10 grandkids; 21 great-grandkids; 1 great great-grandchild; 2 sisters-in-law, Peggy and Ruby Brown; brother-in-law, Johnny Miller and an host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
