Remembering “Bud”
Wayman Lewis Tubbs, affectionately known as “Bud”, was born on March 3, 1941 in Augusta, Texas to the parentage of O.B. and Lillian G. Williams Tubbs. He attended and graduated from W.R. Banks High School in Grapeland, Texas.
Wayman accepted Christ at an early age at Calvary Hill Baptist Church under the pastoral guidance of his uncle, Rev. B.R. Williams. He later joined St. John Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. F.D. Blakemore where he served faithfully until his health declined.
He worked at Texas Industries in Houston, Texas as a truck driver and concrete maker. He later worked as a truck driver at Vulcraft in Grapeland, Texas alongside his brother, B.J. Tubbs, until his retirement.
Wayman met and married Loretta Young. To this union, one son, Wayman Lewis Tubbs, Jr., was born.
On November 25, 2022, Wayman Lewis Tubbs entered into eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother (B.J. Tubbs), sister (Thelma Thompson) and nephew (James Tubbs).
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Wayman Tubbs, Jr.; brother, Herman Tubbs (Alice); uncle, Rev. Billy Ray Williams (Jine); a loving cousin/sister, Judy Faye Owens; one devoted niece, Lillian Tubbs Walker (Lanie), and a host of nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and family members who truly cherished him.
