Velma Jean Hampton was born on July 4, 1955 in Houston, Texas to Leon Hampton and Margarett Brandyburg. Reared by her mother and Mr. Roy Malone, Sr., she graduated from Wheatley High School in 1973.
Velma married James Earl Williams. This union was blessed with six children.
Velma worked in the home health care industry and at Whitehall Nursing Home. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed playing bingo and was a devoted Baptist who was passionate about her family and affecting the most positive change in people.
On August 12, 2024, Velma Jean Williams entered the realm of eternity. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter (Margette Hampton) and grandson (Andre Hampton).
Left with her legacy are her husband of 30 years, James Earl Williams; six children: Margarett, Ronshell, Gregory, James, Christopher, and Donimonic Hampton (Madderick White); 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one sister (Carolynn Moore); two brothers: James Moore, Roy Malone, Jr., and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her children remember her as a great mother, grandmother, and a little woman with great big heart.
