Virgie Ards was born in Crockett, Texas on August 30, 1931 to the proud parentage of Mr. A.C. Ards and Willie Shepard Ards. She attended elementary and high school in Kennard, Texas and moved to Houston, Texas in 1952.
Virgie accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of the late Rev. J. C. Johnson. After his demise, she united with Pisidia Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. R.R. Hartwell. She remained a faithful member under the current pastor, Rev. Albert Walker, Jr. and was a member of the women’s Sunday School class #1, and Mission 2. An active member of her community, she also served as the Secretary and Treasurer of the Brookhaven Civic Club for many years.
On January 12, 2024, Sis. Virgie Ards Miller entered the realm of eternity. Those that went before her and await her arrival on the other side are her parents, one daughter (Shirley Hyde Peterson), one grandson (Zachery Pickrom), three brothers and two sisters.
Left to honor her life and cherish her memory are two sons, Jesse F. Hyde, Jr. (Roselean), and Stephon T. Williams; two daughters, Sonia Williams (L.V.) and Felicia Anding; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and other relatives and friends.
