On January 21, 1965, in Galveston, Texas, a light, named Ula Francine Grant, entered the world. To her family and friends, she was simply Francine-a daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and the heartbeat of those who loved her.
Francine was the cherished daughter of Esther Marie Bell and Ules Grant. She grew up in Houston, Texas where she attended Ross S. Sterling High School, graduating with the class of 1984. She later pursued nursing at Memorial Hermann Technical Education Center, where she earned her degree and began a life of caring for others-personally and professionally.
Francine’s strength was quiet, but fierce. Her presence was a steady hand and a soft place to land. She enjoyed life’s simple joys-dancing to music, baking vanilla and yellow cakes with cream cheese frosting, traveling and cruising, playing cards and dominoes, and being surrounded by her family. Her laughter was contagious, her food was healing, and her home was a safe haven filled with wisdom and warmth.
She was mother in every sense of the word. Not just to her children, but to anyone who needed love, direction, or tough truth spoken in kindness. Francine raised her children with resilience and faith. Her favorite hobby of all was making memories, and her greatest pride was her children and grandchildren. She was deeply devoted to her loved ones, never missing a chance to be present, protective or prayerful.
On May 12, 2025, Ula Francine Enabulele departed this life, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty that will carry on through generations. She was preceded in death by her former husband (Simon O. Enabulele), grandfathers (Loyce Dean Grant and Lee Bell), grandmothers (Ida Mae Williams and Nancy Marie Nichols), grandson (Ty-Rhen Grant) and favorite sister-in-law (Michelle Grant).
Left behind to carry her memory are her mother, Esther Marie Grant; significant other, Rodney Williams; children: Darryshia N. Rumble (Orville), Ty-Esha R. Grant (Sharrhea), Ashley M. Enabulele-Thomas (Terrance), Ebony S. Enabulele (Taiwo), Roderick Williams, and Brittney Merchant; grandchildren: Tre’Von White, Jayla White (Sterling), Anijah Enabulele, Orville “OJ” Rumble Jr., Za’Niyah Rumble, Khyron Thomas, Londyn Thomas, Tyler Williams, and Jasir Grant; great-grandchildren: Aaliyah, Paris and Jamaric; her siblings, Autrey Brown (Roy), Sandra Woodard (Jerry), Doris Bell (Bear), Milton Grant, Ules Grant, Jr. and Frederick Grant will carry on her spirit alongside a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Francine’s faith was foundational. Though she didn’t always quote scripture, she lived her life with grace, forgiveness, and the kind of inner peace that only God can give. She was baptized and walked this life trusting in His will.
To know Francine was to know love; unfiltered, unconditional, unwavering love. She will forever be remembered for her strength, wit and heart.
Though we grieve her passing, we celebrate her life-a life lived fully, honestly, and beautifully, and we carry her with us, always.
