Unto his parents, Marilyn and Dallas Guidry, Jr., Terrence Jerome Guidry was born on August 17, 1975 in Houston, Texas. Terrence came into this world with true second-born energy; he was curious, brave, silly, and full of adventure. His childhood summers were spent with his grandparents in Diboll, Texas. There, he would go on endless adventures with his sister, uncles, aunt, and cousins.
From daylight to dusk, he would ride his bike, jump homemade ramps, build clubhouses out of cardboard and old plywood or go-karts with old parts, climb trees, play kickball, pull pranks, and even shell peas for his Big Mamma. He had so much fun summer after summer that he begged to stay and attend school there. So, for a time, he attended Diboll Elementary.
“Y’all betta leave my sister alone! I checked the street, and it’s dry. My sister ain’t leave no greasy spot on the ground”. Being the fierce protector was a huge part of who Terrence was and would become; first for his big sister, then for all those he would come to know and love.
Terrence gave his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at age 7 at First Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Diboll, Texas by Reverend Simmons. Back in Houston, his Aunt Faye gifted him his first Bible and he memorized all the books of the bible while attending Holman Street Baptist Church. He continued his education at Jane Long Middle School and Willowridge High High School.
Terrence worked all of his life; most notably at Star Furniture, Grocer’s Supply, and Abacus Plumbing where he continued to work until his illness prevented him from doing so. Professionally, he was a Plumber’s Apprentice, but his skills as a plumber, general handyman, car detailer, chauffeur, and master griller created his own little pocket in all of our hearts. Quita can tell everyone not to let him tell you he was an electrician. When all he was asked to do was get the chain unstuck on her ceiling fan, he started a small fire and knocked out the electricity on the entire left side of the house, from front to back. He ran from the room without telling her and was halfway up the hall before remembering he’d left his "Thuta" behind. Acts of service were his love language and music was his therapy. His sisters, brothers, and cousin-siblings were his life-line. His parents were his inspiration and his children were his pride and joy.
On May 14, 2026, Terrence commenced his journey to be reunited with his favorite people including his son (Tristan), uncle (Tommy E. Holman, Sr.), his Big Mamma (Ervin Holman), his grandmother (Joyce Meaux), his aunt (Faye Trotty) and his step-mamma (Annette Guidry). Left behind to remind everyone that he was here are his children: Vivica Daniels, Korin King-Phillips (Kaleb), Milaya Guidry, Terrence Guidry, Jr., Ja’Meria Porche, Devyn Isaac; mother, Marilyn Guidry; father, Dallas “D.J.” Guidry, Jr.; sisters: Laquita Guidry-Martin, Chenedra Richardson (Jerry), Brittney Guidry; brothers: Dauterive Sly (Shanese), Dallas Guidry, III (Camelia), Corey Martin; aunts: Frances Daniel, Louise Trottie, Charlotte Holman, Ladell Hutchinson (Randy); uncles: Willie Trotty, Wayne Holman, Clinton Holman, Sr., and Trenton Holman, Sr.; nephews: Chris Trent (Cristina), Nicholas Richardson (Leigh), Dallas Guidry IV, Mason, Myles, and Marshall Sly; nieces: C. Lavonne Martin, Courtney Richardson, Kennedi, Kelsea, and Kailey Guidry, and a host of cousin-siblings, other relatives and friends.
