SHIRLEY JEAN DAVIS

Shirley Jean Davis was born on September 9, 1958 in Hallettsville, Texas to the parentage of Horace Adams and Ethel Davis.

After the family relocated to Houston, Shirley attended Sterling High School and Houston Community College.

In May of 2003, Shirley was baptized by her brother, Ray Dickerson and sister, Mattie Dickerson, in the San Jacinto River.  She maintained her faith throughout the rest of her life.

Being an industrious young lady, she worked as a hair stylist and created several new and innovative styles.  She spent some of her time hosting and teaching cooking classes with a focus on healthy eating.  Her main focus was the arduous job of being of mother to nine children and 40+ grandchildren.

Shirley enjoyed styling hair, collecting coins, studying space and the stars.  She was an avid writer, a hugh Star Trek and Star Wars fan and loved to re-design and re-purpose clothes.  Needless to say, she was a very creative individual who forged her own path.

On November 15, 2024, Shirley entered into eternal rest.  She was preceded in death by her father, two sisters (Cynthia Johnson, Gail Lynn Davis Kirksey), brother (Lloyd Nicholson), granddaughter (Kiana Lee), and two aunts (Joe Marie Schafer, Doris Davis).

Left to honor her life and cherish her memory are her mother, Ethel Davis; children: Posey Davis,  Darrell Davis (Kelda), Julian Davis, Debra Davis, Michael Davis, Juanita Davis, Ethel Davis, Cassandra Davis, Stephen Davis; grandchildren: Sherman Lee, Jr., Katelynn Scott, Daniel Scott,     Ezekiel Scott, Domanique Thompson, Jamil Smith, Jr., Semaj Davis, India Davis, Krystal Needham, Diamond Brown, JaKala Smith, Kyarra Faye, Jayda Davis, Michael Davis, Jr., Jamichael Davis, Leo Davis, Michael Terrell Davis, Maliq Davis, Julian Livingston, Tyler Davis, Joseph Coleman, Jr., William Mitchell, IV, Jordan Oaks, Jr., Joshua Davis, Khaleb Davis, Kaylei Davis, Ms/zyah Davis,   KeShanda Davis, Julian Davis, Jr., Ja’Derious Davis, Terrell Dickson, Keija Davis, Jamari Davis, Kaleah, Kameron Davis, La’Kia Davis, Keith’yn Davis, Ji’yah Davis, Ju’Liah Davis, Je’elz Davis, Kalani Davis; great-grandchildren: Anya Smith, Kaiya Davis, Bonnie Lynn Smith, JaKai Livingston; two sisters: Gerline Jeffery and Mary Simon; brother, Ellis “Tuna” Nicholson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
