Shirley Iford was born on June 13, 1948 in Opelousas, Louisiana to the parentage of Lucius and Rosalie Brown Iford. Shirley met and married Charles Brently Broussard. Together, they created and maintained a loving home for their family. At an early age, she accepted Christ and was baptized at Old Emanuel Baptist Church. Later in life, she was re-baptized by Dr. N.P. Jones. Her stewardship led her to be a choir member as well as a Deaconess.
Shirley remained a steadfast member of Old Emanuel under the pastoral guidance of Rev. Mack Guillory and attended faithfully until her health prevented her from doing so.
Shirley possessed a loving and out-going spirit. She enjoyed watching LifeTime movies and soap operas, talking on the phone, and spending quality time with her family. For many years, she worked as a care-giver for adults, as well as children.
On December 17, 2023, Shirley Iford Broussard entered the realm of eternity. She was preceded in transition by her husband, daughter (Felicia Robinson), two sons (Derrick and Brian Robinson), parents, brother (Claude Iford, Eddie Lee Iford and Lucius Iford, Jr.), and her sister/cousin (Velma Carrier).
Left to honor her life and cherish her memory are her daughters, Jacqueline Randle (Reginald) and Shannon Pellerin (Joseph); grandchildren, Dominique, Derrick, Jamar, Brian, Kennedy, Colby, Shane and Phoenix; two sisters, Brenda Bragg (Oliver) and Kamie Cunningham; her fur babies, Romeo, Jules, and Jenni; bonus daughter, Beverly Gardner; special friends, Dorothy Lemelle, Albertha Silverand, and Evelyn Predium and a host of other relatives and friends.
