SANDRA SMITH Obituary

Sandra Jene Smith, known as “Sandy” by family and friends,  was born on June 18, 1947 in Houston, Texas to Velma Sidney. Along with her siblings, Sandy was nurtured to become a strong believer in Christ at a very young age.  At the age of 12, Sandra, was baptized at Buck Street Memorial Church of God In Christ by   Pastor John Gamble.

A native Houstonian, Sandra was raised in the Kashmere Gardens neighborhood of Houston, Texas.  She graduated from Kashmere Gardens High School and  furthered  her education by attending Texas Southern University, majoring in Geology.  After a few semesters, she transferred to Durham College to learn  keypunch skills.

For many years she was a Keypunch Operator.  After 16 years with Texaco, Sandra joined Metro and worked for a number of years before retiring shortly after 2010.  In addition to her corporate roles, she maintained a real estate license for over 35 years.

Until the decline of her health, Sandra was a member of New Light Church (Southwest) under the auspices of  Pastor I.V. Hilliard.

On Friday, July 25, 2025, Sandra Smith peacefully entered into eternal rest.  She was preceded in death by her mother, and brother (Roy Sidney).

Left to honor her life and cherish her memory are her sisters, Min. Jo Ann Ballard and Beverly Johnson; niece, LaShon Ballard; nephews, Min. Troy Ballard (Kimberly),Roy Sidney (Doreen), Rasheed Sidney (Carlesha); grand-nieces, Taylor  Ballard, Holly Ballard, Morgan Ballard, Loren Ballard, Hope Ballard, Hannah  Ballard, Latifah Sidney, Kaleiah Sidney, and Saniyah Sidney; grandnephews, Ty Ballard, Kaleb Louis, Rasheed Sidney, Jr., Akeem Sidney and Asher Sidney; great-grand-nephews that she was able to spend a great deal of time with, K.J. Louis, Jr. and Kamari Louis.
