Omar Jemail Ursin was born on August 26, 1985 in Houston, Texas to Royal Ursin, Jr. and Yvonne Wells Ursin.
Educated in Channelview, Texas, he graduated from Channelview High School. While in high school, he started lifeguarding and opened his own pool cleaning company. After graduation, he attended San Jacinto College and studied Computer Technology. Thereafter, he attended Houston Community College for EMS studies.
He pursued his childhood dream of becoming a peace officer by attending the University of Houston Police Academy.
During his formative years, Omar earned the nicknames “BlkOmar” and “AwsomO” from his family and friends. Omar was baptized during his youth, while living in Houston.
During his leisure time, he enjoyed shooting clays, working on his car and autocross. He also enjoyed vacationing with family and hanging out with his friends. He had a heart for mentoring youth and helping others where he could. Omar was an intelligent, incredibly funny, loving, courageous and generous young man. He was a stranger to no one whose unmistakable laugh and smile would brighten an entire room. When you came to him with a problem, he had a listening and helpful ear.
On August 28, 2022, Omar Jemail Ursin, a loving husband, father, son and brother, transitioned to peaceful rest. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Whitney Ursin; daughter, Abigail Ursin; parents, Royal and Yvonne Ursin; two sisters, Yani Ross (Delvin, Jr.), Margene Crooms (Mark, Sr.); two brothers, Royal Ursin, III (Altha), Lamont Ursin (Paris) and a host of other wonderful relatives and friends.
