Paul Moore Obituary

Born on December 11, 1949, in High Prairie, Madison County, Texas to Zerline Carter, Paul Lawrence Moore lived a life defined by love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family. After graduation, he married his high school sweetheart, Thelma Faye. Their love story spanned over 54 beautiful years of marriage.  Together, they created a home filled with warmth, love, and traditions that will carry on for generations.

One of Paul’s greatest joys was spending time with his family and creating countless, cherished memories through his legendary barbecue. No family gathering was complete without the rich, smoky aroma of his famous barbecue filling the air. He was the heart of every celebration; the go-to person for catering his grandchildren’s birthday parties, and the one who made sure everyone had a plate full of good food and a heart full of love.

Paul’s other passion was the farm; it was his true sanctuary. Lovingly known to his family as “Up Home”, the family farm was more than just a place; it was part of him. Taking care of his cattle and the land brought him peace and joy. He passed his love for the farm down to his grandson, Allen.

A loving husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and beloved brother, Paul left this world on February 17, 2025, at the age of 75. He was preceded in transition by his mother (Zerline McNultry Carter) and five siblings (Campbell Stell Moore, Lewis Culton, Baby Culton, Aretta Culton and Dorthy Culton).

Those that are left to cherish his life, love and labor are his wife, Thelma Faye Moore; daughters:  Cassandra Moore McZeal, Kimberly Moore Franklin, Sheila Ann Moore, Dana Moore Ridge; grand-children: Allen Matthew Moore, Madelyn Rose McZeal, Lena Salome McZeal, Quentin Samuel Franklin, Anjali Morgan Franklin, Makayla Elizabeth Franklin, Winston Elliot Fiedler, Major Greyson Ridge, Eloise Amara Fiedler, and Mason Christopher Ridge; siblings: Lue Quarnor White, Jodie Moore, Edmund Perry Carter, Billie Jean Carter, Glenda Clark, Henrietta Culton, Ubens Culton, Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Though he is no longer here in body, his spirit lives on in the values he instilled in his children and grandchildren, the meals that are shared in his honor, and the land he loved so dearly. He gave everything; his love, guidance and heart, and will be loved and missed, always.

In remembrance of Paul’s life and love, the family asks that charitable donations be made toTIRR Memorial Hermann.
