PAULA PRICE Obituary

Paula Latrice Price was born on July 30, 1964 in Crockett, Texas, the youngest of Charlie and Vircha Ree Cooper Price.  She graduated from the Crockett Independent School District in 1985 where she excelled in arts and crafts through a special needs program provided by an extension of the school system.  Paula lived with her mother during her formative and early adult years and attended Union Prairie Baptist Church.

When her mother's health began to deteriorate, Paula was enrolled in the rehabilitation developmental arts and crafts program in San Augustine, Texas.  She was able to work, make her own money and go shopping, which she enjoyed.  When family and friends visited her, she was eager to show them what she had earned and had pens, pencils and notepads for everyone.  When family members and friends would visit and bring her home for weekends, holidays and birthdays to get a breath of fresh air away from the facility.  She enjoyed outings with her family.  After her weekend stay, on the return trip, she would always demand a hamburger, a bag of chips, and a diet coke. The chips HAD to be Lay's potato chips. If you wanted peace in the vehicle, you had to get it.

Paula loved her family and excelled in every aspect, providing that she was self-supporting. After several years at the San Augustine facility, she moved to a personal care facility in Lufkin, Texas where she continued her growth and maturity in every aspect.

When family and friends visited her, you would think she was the manager. She would give tours and explain everything that was going on at the facility. She had a very good relationship with the staff, and they made her very comfortable during her entire stay.

Paula never realized that she had limitations. Therefore, in reality, she didn't. On September 24, 2025, beloved sister and aunt, Paula Latrice "Lay" Price departed this earth life, at the age of 61.  Her spirit departed from her earthly body and she moved into eternity.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers (Charlie Fred Price, Willie Ed "Pappy", Ruzzell "Buke", Alfred Lee "Sam") and sister-in-law (Hortense Morton Price). Left to cherish her memory are her siblings: Geneva Simon of Houston, Donald Ray Price (Eloise) of Houston, Floyd Price of Beaumont, Delbert Price (Barbara) of Houston; sister-in-love, Lorraine Price; aunt, Elnora Hopkins (S.L.) of Houston and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
