Odie G. Davis, Jr., known by family and friends as “baby son”, “chief” and “grandpa”, was welcomed into this world on march 18, 1943, the first born child of Odie G. and Luel Ard Davis.
Odie G. attended Williams High School and graduated in 1961. He spent a year at Prairie View A&M University and then enlisted in the united states army and received an honorable discharge. Odie G. met Lucille Harris and They were joined in holy matrimony in 1966. An interesting 59 years of marriage was interspersed with children, sports and school.
Odie G. earned a degree in auto mechanics from Houston Community College. He loved working with motors so much that he rebuilt and installed many. After moving back to Crockett, he worked on tractors and lawnmowers.
For 28 years, Odie G. worked for Shell oil company in the environmental department of shell oil learning and teaching his family and friends about preserving the environment. He liked to travel and the family shared many enjoyable trips. All the good things seemed to occur in august; the wedding anniversary and celebrating special times with Charlie Fred and Lorraine Price.
On Sunday, August 17, 2025, Odie G. Davis transitioned from this world to be with the Lord. He was preceded in transition by his parents, sister (ella ree davis), great-granddaughter (Kamari Westbrook), brother-in-law (Charlie Fred Price).
Left to honor his life and cherish his memory are his wife, Lucille Davis; children: Ernest Davis (Patricia), Nechelle Davis, Eric Davis (Shawndale), Tracie Brown (Ray); 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ora Jean Harris (Claude) and Ruby Lorraine Price; brother, Arthur Leach Davis (Katie); uncle, Morris Davis; sister/cousin, Josephine Arnold, who has been an unwavering supporter, leaning post, uber driver and loving cousin, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
