Lorenza Robertson, known by family and friends as “Ren”, was born on June 9, 1932 in Grapeland, Texas to the parentage of Jeff and Lucy Hicks Robertson.
Lorenza attended the Houston area schools and graduated from Jack Yates High School.
At an early age, he was baptized and remained a steadfast supporter of the events in the Cedar Branch community.
Lorenza was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hosting events and being the life of the party. He was the founder and president of the 13 Men Social and Charity Club which was established on December 29,1979. His slogan was Be a Cheerful Giver. His generous spirit prompted him to raise funds for students to go to college, promote black-owned businesses and leaders to assist in the community and be a help wherever needed. He conducted events in many cities raising funds for needy families. For over 32 years, he drove for Rodeway Express Trucking until he decided to retire.
On September 18, 2023, Lorenza entered the realm of eternity. He was preceded in transition by his wife (Jean Robertson); parents, four sisters (Cuba Gilford, Odessa Evans, Eleice Harris, Baby Ruth Hicks) and one brother (Mack B. Robertson).
Left to honor his life and cherish his memory are five nieces, Lois Gilford, Addie Gipson, Linda Knox, Cynthia Hicks and Danita Evans; three nephews, Elvin Robertson, L.P. Hicks and Jeff C. Robertson; one dear cousin, Ora Lee Owens; his caretaker and dear friend, Alesa Byrd Joulevette and a host of other relatives and friends.
