“For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s”
Romans 14:8
Lenetter was born on December 15, 1932 to Lester and Mahalia Smith. She received Christ under the leadership of Pastor J.L. Gaston and remained a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for over 46 years. Under the leadership of Pastor J.L. White, Sr., she continued serving diligently in the ministry. Her faithful service included the Senior Choir, Senior Mission, Assistant Sunday School Teacher, Nurse’s Aid, and Pastor’s Aid. She later joined Bibleway Fellowship Baptist Church, also known as One Movement Bible Church, under the pastoral guidance of Pastor Ivory L. Varner. As a dedicated member, she was instrumental in the Golden Age Ministry until her health no longer allowed her to continue. Her faith was the foundation of her life and she served the Lord with humility, dedication and love.
Lenetter first united in Holy Matrimony with Robert Edwards. To this union, four children were born. Later, in November 1965, she married Patrick Booth, Sr. This union was blessed with two children. A natural born nurturer, she devoted more than 40 years to the nursing profession, eventually retiring from Houston Methodist Hospital. Even after retirement, her heart for serving others remained strong as she continued working as a home care provider for 12 more years. Caring for others was never just her profession, but her calling and a true reflection of who she was.
Lenetter, at the age of 93, went home to be with the Lord on March 25, 2026. A woman of deep faith, compassion and grace, she lived a life that reflected her love for God and people. She was known for her caring nature, warm smile, and the kindness she so freely shared with everyone she met. Her presence brought comfort, joy, and encouragement to family, friends, church members, patients, and all whose lives she touched.
Lenetter was preceded in death by both husbands, her parents, brother (Jonas Dorsey), and grand-daughter (Rocky Edwards-Malveaux). Left to cherish her memory and continue her legacy are her six children: Brenda Sanders (Joseph), Robert Edwards (Sylvia), Donald Edwards (Grace), Richard Edwards (Paula), Patricia Driver (Marvin), and Patrick Booth, Jr.; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; a dear friend whom she considered a big sister, Ola Marie Sanders, and a special friend, Leah Ruth Wilson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
Her life was a beautiful example of faith in action. She loved the Lord, her family, and people, deeply. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, selfless care, unwavering devotion, and the warm smile that made everyone feel welcome and loved.
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.” Psalm 23:1-6
