His Story
Larry Earl Hackett was born September 26, 1955 in Crockett, Texas to the parentage of Otha Ree Hackett and Annie Marie Brooks Hackett.
He obtained his formal education at Mary Bethune Elementary and graduated from Crockett High in 1974. Thereafter, he began working for Vulcraft as a welder and later retired from Lufkin Industries.
Larry was baptized at St. Luke Baptist Church under the pastoral guidance of the late Rev. J. T. Groves, Sr. He later attended First Missionary Baptist Church in Lufkin, Texas under the leadership of Rev. William Ricks. There, he loved to participate in the Annual Men’s Day Program.
Larry married his high school sweetheart, Debra Bean, on October 24, 1975. This union was blessed with four children; two beautiful girls, LaKeysha and Laterica, and two handsome boys, Larry J., and Colby.
Larry loved working and providing for his family. In his spare time, he would sell tires to his many family and customers. He even taught the grandchildren the art of selling tires. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching basketball and football.
Larry Earl Hackett departed this life on September 17, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother (Otha Ray), and two nephews (Tremayne and Cedric).
Left to honor his life and cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years and 11 months, Debra; children, LaKeysha, Larry Hackett, Jr. (Catrina), Colby Hackett (Stephanie) and Laterica Kirksey (Tyson); grandchildren, Latiya, Azariah, Brianna, Acelyn, Caleb, Jatavion, Malik, J’Vontia, Royse, Cristian, Kordell, Lorenzo and Ali; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Rayford, Doris Ross (Kenneth), Belinda Ross, Carolyn Evans (Darnell), Eloise Wade and Sandra Mirkey; brothers, Fredrick Hackett (Paula), Darrel Hacckett (Angel), Raymond Ross (Cheryl), Hunter Watson, III (Rhonda), Andre Watson (Natalie) and Carlos Ross; brothers-in-law, Arthur, John and Jimmy; sisters-in-law, Janice Tina Gayle, Terena and Norvella; mother-in-law, Freddie Bean and a host of other relatives and friends.
