Linda Faye Nickerson was born on December 24, 1949 in Houston, Texas to Bennie Thomas, Jr. and Pearlie Mae Nickerson. She attended elementary, junior and high school in the infamous third ward area of Houston, Texas. She started high school at Jack Yates and later moved to Corsicana, Texas to finish her formal education at G.W. Jackson High School where she met and fell in love with the love of her life, Eddie Buffin. This union was blessed with three children. In 1973, the family moved to California. Thereafter, two more children were born. The family moved to South Central before settling in Cerritos, California.
Linda worked a variety of jobs including the food stamp office, USPS, Compton Unified School District, Security Pacific National Bank, and later was a part of the night crew at Fedco. She made sure her children concentrated on their education, so she was able to see all of them graduate from high school and some even from college and trade school.
Ed and Linda had a love story unlike any other. Ed made sure that no matter what type of work Linda chose, he was able to maintain their family, financially. Linda was boisterous, fun-loving, and the disciplinarian whereas Ed was the quiet, head of the household. Linda made it known that even though she had a mouth on her, she had a strong, solid but quiet backing in Ed.
Linda even had a chance to sing for a major record label, but chose her husband and child-rearing instead. For that, her children are extremely grateful that God chose Ed and Linda to be their parents. Their home became home to many of their children's friends and they became parental figures to many other children outside of their five. Their home was constantly filled with their grandchildren, daily, so they all had a special individual relationship with them.
After the death of her mother, Linda said her next move would be back home to Texas. In 2006, that move was made. On April 25, 2025, Linda Faye Buffin moved on to glory after spending a month in the hospital where it is believed she was preparing her family for their lives without her. They believe she was greeted with open arms by everyone who went on before her.
