Lillie Mae Mitchell was born on January 23, 1940 in Houston, Texas to the parentage of Anthony T. Mitchell, Sr. amd Berndetta Hailey Mitchell. At an early age, she was accepted Christ and was baptized.
Lillie was devoted to the church and believed that there was nothing too hard for God. She gave of herself in time and deed and participated in church functions whenever possible.
Lillie enjoyed cooking, sewing, painting, writing, dancing, socializing, driving, shopping and traveling. She was a people person and became an entrepreneur. Her many talents as an event planner, seamstress, baker and artist afforded her the opportunity to fellowship with people from all walks of life.
Lillie met and married Wilbert Roundtree. Although they shared no children, they opened their home to all.
On January 17, 2024, Lillie Mae Mitchell Roundtree entered the land of eternity. She was preceded in transition by her husband and parents.
Left to honor her life and cherish her memory are her son, James V. Joseph, Jr.; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Jean Mitchell-Powell; brother, Tyrone Mitchell; uncle, Jasper Dupree and Herman Dupree; nephews, Tyrone C. Mitchell and Dennis Mitchell; step-daughters, Carmen, Jackie, Shirley, Sandra, Sheila, Cheryl, and a loving church family.
