Joyce Mae Foman was born on March 30, 1953 in Houston, Texas to the parentage of H.D. and Bernice Dabney Foman. She attended Burrus Elementary and Booker T. Washington High School.
Joyce accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Gospel Way Baptist Church.
She loved cooking and took great joy in feeding everyone. She loved her music and taking care of all of her family’s children. Having a caring spirit and loving heart, she worked as a private duty nurse. Joyce met and married Thurman Melton.
On October 8, 2024, Joyce Mae Elliott entered the realm of eternity. She was preceded in transition by her parents, two brothers (Claude and Freddie), and sister (Lillie).
Left to honor her life and cherish her memory are her children: Bernetha Melton, Denesha Melton, Nasheka Melton and Kenny Elliott; grandchildren: Travion Melton, Tyric LeDoax, Tadarian Melton, Dyniesha, Daniya, Janzie Glori, Taliyah, Jaylen Kennon; great-grandchildren: Amyri LeDoux, Meilani LeDoux, Dorrion and Darren; two sisters: Cynthia Harris (Howard) and Pamela Carrier (Terrance); three brothers: Preston Dabney (Mary), Henry Foman and Kenneth White; two aunts, Lessie Jefferson, Lillie Allen and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
