Johnny was born on July 15, 1970 in Houston, Texas. He attended B.H. Grimes Elementary, Attucks Middle School, Worthing High School, and Texas Southern University. As a strong-willed young man he was self-employed in the Pilot Car business, which primarily served businesses on the east coast and the northern region of the United States. He launched his business in 2017.
Johnny enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He spent many hours celebrating birthdays, graduations, and special occasions with his family and friends. He was a valued mentor who offered guidance and advice to his nieces and nephews.
Johnny spent countless hours studying the word of God and sharing his knowledge with others. He thoroughly enjoyed studying the Bible with his daughter, Kendahl. His favorite scripture was Isaiah 41:10 NIV which says “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am Your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand”.
On October 19, 2023, after a brief illness, Johnny unexpectedly transitioned to a much better home. He was preceded in transition by his paternal grandparents (William Barkley and Angelina McDaniel Barkley of Grapeland, Texas), paternal uncles (William Barkley, Jr. and Deacon Jacob Barkley), sister (Krishner Barkley Hoffman), four paternal great-aunts (Alfie McDaniel, Jane McDaniel Harvey and Iva McDaniel Redmon), one paternal great-uncle (Jake McDaniel), his maternal grandparents of Houston, Texas (David and Patience Chambers), maternal uncles (Johnny Lee Chambers, David Chambers, Jr. and Paul Chambers).
Left to honor his life and cherish his memory are his mother, Linda Johnson Sapp; father, James Barkley; daughter, Kendahl Johnson; four sisters, Chalisa Lashun Johnson, Reteen Barkley Watts, Delethia Barkley, and Yulonda Simple Barkley; three step-brothers, Kescer Andrews, Jonathan Johnson and Robyn Seymon; three grandchildren, Owen Khalil Johnson, Anias Nasir Johnson and Victory Amir Johnson; one maternal aunt, Joyce Elaine Chambers and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will truly miss him.
