Jefferson Davis Skinner, the youngest of fifteen children, was born on October 23, 1933 in Alto, Texas to the parentage of Phillip and Evie Wooten Skinner.
At an early age, he united with Simpson Chapel Baptist Church. Throughout his life, he was very dedicated to the Tadmor community and he served faithfully as the treasurer of the McKelvey Cemetery fund until his passing.
For many years, Jefferson worked as a logger with his brother, Joseph Garrett. In 1963, he began working for Lufkin Industries and retired after 33 years of service.
Jefferson met Darla J. Lamb. They were united in Holy Matrimony on September 25, 1955. This union was blessed with seven children.
He was deeply loved and well respected not only by his family, but friends and acquaintances and anyone who got to know him. His grandchildren lovingly referred to his as “Papa” and loved hearing his stories and picking his brain for wisdom. One of his favorite past times was watching westerns and the show, “In The Heat of the Night”. He also loved gardening and growing his own fresh vegetables. He always emphasized the importance of hard work, and he led by example.
On January 12, 2026, Jefferson Davis Skinner entered into eternal rest. He was preceded in transition by his wife of 65 years, Darla; one daughter (Cherylene), and all of his siblings.
