Johnnie Mae McKnight was born on January 18, 1943 in Crockett, Texas, to the parentage of John Henry Fado McKnight and Queen Vera Hicks McKnight.
She grew up in the Crockett area and attended Williams High. Johnnie Mae accepted Christ and began her walk with the Lord at an early age. She was a member of the Grace Temple New Testament Holiness Church where she worshipped faithfully. She accepted her calling and began to spread the gospel.
Johnnie Mae had a heart for service and was faithful to the Mission House service and gave of herself as a jail, prison and street minister.
On January 20, 2024, Minister Johnnie Mae McKnight entered the realm of eternity. Those that went before her and await her arrival on the other side are her parents, son (Johnny Pernell Rodgers), 1 grandchild; 2 great-grandchildren; two sisters (Cilla Mae McKnight-James and Norris J. Tryon); 1 brother (Willie B. McKnight) and 2 special friends (Thelma Jolley and Dorothy Williams).
Left to honor her life and cherish her memory are her children, James H. Rodgers (Debbie) of Lufkin, Calvin L. Rodgers (Thelma) of Crockett, Sheniece Harris-Rodgers, Lonzo Rodgers, Sr. (Anita) of Crockett, Janice Rodgers (Leonard) of Crockett and Evelyn J. Jones of Lovelady; 30 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
