Hughes Pierce Linton, Jr., known as “June” by family and friends, was born to Grace and Hughes P. Linton at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas on November 13, 1953.
When Hughes was five years old, his parents moved to Houston, Texas where he attended Turner and Blackshear Elementary schools. Later, his parents moved to a house on Murr Way. It was there he met his life long friends, Kenneth Willis, Keith Barnes, Clarence Walker and the Boware family.
After high school graduation, Hughes enlisted in the United States Army and served a tour in Germany. He received a honorable discharge and returned to Houston where he met and married Cynthia Barkley. Born to them was Lo’Rell and Monique Linton.
June loved his music; KEM and Luther Vandross, to name a few. No one loved the Dallas Cowboys like June. He would never miss a game. He will always be known for his greeting. “Well, hello there”. He was crazy about his kids.
June attended Joel Osteen’s church for a few years. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ a long time ago but rededicated his life again, a month ago, with Pastor Boware. Answering our Savior’s call, June’s journey here on earth ended on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. He will be missed, dearly.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Lo’Rell Linton and Monique Barefield (Byron); mother, Grace Phillips Linton; four grandchildren, Ja’Qualyn Baker, Tyneal Green, A’Laisa Mitchell, Dederion Williams; one sister, Cheryl Moore; niece, Courtney Moore; nephew, Anthony Moore; great-niece, Nyla Moore, and a host of cousins and other relatives and caring friends.
