Everline Cosby was born on November 9, 1938 in Webster Parish, Louisiana to Joe and Lorene Morgan Cosby. She attended school in Louisiana and later moved to Houston, Texas.
Everline loved to dance. She was a member of the senior citizen organization and Annie Cottage. She joined in with Mama Sugar and the 5BarS Ranch and Barn and truly enjoyed spending time with her friends.
For many years, she was employed at St. Dominic Village Nursing Home and with the HISD food service department from which she retired.
At an early age, Everline accepted Christ and was baptized. She attended First South Main Baptist Church and was a current member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, Inc. She was a watch care member Mt. Corinth Baptist Church under Rev. Dr. Abraham Holt, III.
On April 28, 2024, Sis. Porter entered into eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her husband (Acie Porter, Jr.), parents, son (Leon Bennett), and granddaughter (Crystal Bennett).
Left to cherish her memory are her step-daughter, Nicole Moody; step-grandchildren that she raised, Nicole Moody, Miriam Moody, Zacchae’us Moody; brothers, Joe Cosby, Willie Cosby (Bernice); sister, Adell Oliver; sister-in-law, Nathan J. Sanders, and two nieces, Vanessa and Beverlyn Sanders, that she lived with for 15 years while they cared for her.
