Emma Jean Tims was born to Lela and George Gordon in Schulenberg, Texas. She graduated from Giddings High School and furthered her studies at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, in the field of nursing.
After moving to Houston, Jean attended Christian Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Herbert Stroman.
Jean, as she was fondly called, was known for her infectious smile. She worked at the Veterans Hospital for over 30 years caring for paraplegic veterans. After retirement, she continued with her gift of service
volunteering for Neighborhood Centers at the J. W. Peavy Multi-Purpose Center, ensuring the nutritional needs of seniors were met.
On July 20, 2024, Emma Jean Tims departed this life. She was preceded in death by her spouse (Lloyd Tims), parents, and two sisters (Rosemary Smith and Georgia Mae Henry).
Left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Jerose Gordon; three grandchildren, Janelle, Danielle and Nathaniel; eight great-grandchildren: Michael Paul, Mariah, Jeremiah, Jayden, Kalarie, Antonio, Grace, Jacob, and host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
