Elmire Marvette Mathis was born on July 12, 1969 to Mary Elizabeth Mathis and James David Mathis. Known as Marvette and Pac Man by family and friends, he loved to have fun, kept a smile, loved to play and crack jokes.
He grew up in the Third Ward area of Houston, Texas and attended Douglass Elementary, Ryan Middle School, and graduated from Sharpstown High School in 1991.
In 1985, he wanted to become a karate kid so he joined the Progressive Amateur Boxing Association under the direction of Rev. Martin.
Marvette used to chase birds and climb trees. As ge got older, he got his first job at Popeye’s. Later on down the line, he moved to the Hiram Clark area and got a job at Churches. Thereafter, he joined the crew of McDonald’s and was employed by KFC at the time of his demise. As a KFC crew member, he became widely known and loved.
On November 12, 2025, Elmire Marvette Mathis entered into eternal rest.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Jacob Johnson and Kevin Jones; step-daughter, Jasmine Johnson; 5 step-grandchildren; companion, Calindra Johnson; parents: Mary Elizabeth Mathis and James David Mathis; siblings: Andrae Rice, Terrence Mathis and Twanna Mathis; best friend, Chanel Williams; three aunts: Dorothy Rice, Belle Dunlap (Maurice) and Alicia Rice; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will truly miss him.
