Dorsey Marie Nickerson

Dorsey Marie Nickerson was born in Houston, Texas on Julu 9, 1955, to Pearlie Nickerson.  She graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in the Houston Independent School District.

For over 30 years, Dorsey worked in the Houston Independent School District and retired in 2014.  She was dedicated to working with children and enjoyed helping them become the best they could be.

She dedicated her life to Christ and was a faithful, lifetime member of Christian Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Herbert Stroman and remained a dedicated member under the current pastor, Dr. Kenneth W. Stroman. She was active in many capacities until she was called home to be with the Lord.

As a productive member of Christian Hope, she worked with the youth department  and was a creative  servant for Christ.

On January 26, 2026, God took Dorsey’s hand and said, “Come with me, thy faithful servant”. She was preceded in death by her mother (Pearlie Nickerson), son (Craig Nickerson), two sisters (Linda Buffin and Della Adigun),  one brother (Gregory Nickerson), and granddaughter (Beunca Nickerson).

Left to honor her life and cherish her memory are her 2 daughters: Nicolette Nickerson and Dominique Nickerson; three grandchildren: Alyssa Vasquez, Hailey Nickerson, and Hayden Thomas; one great-granddaughter, Aleah Nickles; two sisters: Cathy Nickerson and Carolyn Magee; two brothers: Jeffery Nickerson and Deacon Micheal Nickerson (Bridgete); special friend, Jack Allen; best friend, Marilyn Thompson, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, and church family.
