Doasia Mae Washington was born on March 27, 1933 in Scotland, Louisiana, the daughter of Sylvester and Hester Curtis Washington. She attended Vidalia Elementary, Vidalia Middle School, and earned her high school diploma from Concordia Parish Training School in Vidalia, Louisiana.
Doasia gave her life to Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. Samuel Woods. Her spiritual journey culminated with her being a member of The Crossing Community Church under the leadership of Rev. Harvey M. Walker.
Doasia joined the Houston Independent School District Nutrition Services and worked there until retirement. During her retirement, she enjoyed being in the company of her family. She loved cooking and taking care of everyone she met. She was a mother and grandmother to many people throughout her years. She met and married John Johnson, Sr. and together, they maintained a home full of love.
At the blessed age of 91, Doasia Mae Johnnson entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. She was preceded in transition by her husband, parents, daughter (Joyce Johnson), son (John Johnson, Jr.), six sisters and five brothers.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Lori Johnson-Smith (Reginald), Christopher Johnson, Nathaniel Johnson and Mary Johnson; grandchildren: Mary Johnson-Matthews (James), Dominique Tucker (Michael), Jessica Smith, Reginal Smith, Jr., Ahzreal Smith and Keyonah Smith; delegate grandchildren: Andre McCoy, Roshanique Smitters and Amnustie Clay; great-grandchildren: Jamaree Mathews, Aniya Tucker, Remini Jones, Jayce Tucker, Rayiah Smith, Askari McCoy and Arian Smith; brother, Huey Washington (Ollie), and a host of grandchildren by marriage, other relatives and friends.
