Marcello Cobbs was born on May 3, 1942 in Crockett, Texas to the proud parentage of George and Ollie Groves Cobbs. He attended school at Williams High.
At an early age, Marcello accepted Christ and was baptized at Union Prairie Baptist Church where he was ordained as a deacon. He was truly dedicated to his church, his pastor, and his service to the kingdom of God. He loved attending worship services, singing with the choir and men’s group, and participating in other church activities.
Known as “Cella” by family and friends, he worked for Dolly Madison and the Crockett State School, from which he retired. His smile was infectious, his heart was kind, his singing voice was like velvet, and his faith was fierce.
Marcello met and married Jessie Mae Spearman and together, they created a Christian home full of love for each other and Christian fellowship.
On May 16, 2025, the hard-working and loving hands of Deacon Marcello Cobbs earned their rest. Those that await his arrival on the other side are his parents, two sisters (Jeanette Allen, Leola McMearn) and two brothers (Elliott Cobbs, Maxie Cobbs). Left to honor his life and cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Jessie Mae Cobbs; children, Rev. Marcus Cobbs (Carolyn), Cheryl Scurlock (Gayron), Rhonda Henry (James) and Gerry Cobbs; twelve grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; sister, Nancy Jackson (Phillip) and a church family that will truly miss his dedication, praising and singing.
