DEACON DELANE Obituary

Linzell Delane, the first born of four and nicknamed “Scooby-DOO” by his first grandson, Damarcus, was born on August 4, 1959 in Crockett, Texas to the parentage of Jammie Lee Taylor and Eddie Ross Bell.  He attended Crockett High School and graduated in 1977.

Linzell accepted Christ at an early age.  His mother kept him in church as often as she could.  As a resident of Crockett, he attended Hampton Memorial Church of God in Christ.

After reaching adulthood, Linzel met and married his first wife, Marie Taylor, of Lovelady, Texas.  Together, they welcomed two children: Linzell, Jr. and Jennifer.

Linzell worked numerous jobs in the midst of his growing, but never forgot the Lord Jesus Christ.  He later discovered his passion for over the road truck driving and began working for Covenant Transport.  He remained a diligent driver for a number of years.  He later went into business with his brother-in-law and was faithful in his employ until an unfortunate accident landed him in the hospital.  Thereafter, he was no longer able to drive over the road.

He later met Theresa Williams, who became a bright light in his life.  Together, they built a full and happy life.  Their fifteen year marriage was spent enjoying their lives and grandhchildren, together.  Although life produced struggles, Linzell kept his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

On July 7, 2025, the Lord called Linzell Delane home from fighting a good fight.  He was preceded in death by his father, three siblings (Eddie Ross Bell, J.R. Bell and Sharon Bell, both of Crockett), a set of twin siblings, step-father (James Wiley), maternal grandparents (Jessie James and Rutene  Taylor), two uncles (John L. Taylor, Artis B. Taylor), four aunts (Ollie Mae Taylor, Marlene Williams, Ruth Handy, Jessie Marie Gilford), paternal grandparents (Edd Bell and Essie B. Dupree).
