Cherylene Skinner, was born on January 5, 1965 in Kennard, Texas, the sixth child of Jefferson and Darla Skinner.
Cherylene attended Kennard High School and graduated with the class of 1983. At an early age, she committed to Christ and united with Bethel C.M.E. in Tadmor, Texas where she sang in the choir. She loved to celebrate the Christmas holidays with her church family. She provided gifts to senior and children each year spreading joy and happiness whenever and wherever possible.
Cherylele began working at Whitehall Nursing Home, in Crockett, as a certified nurse’s aide. She later transitioned to Cartmelll Nursing Home in Palestine as a certified medical aide. She began a sixteen and a half year career as a correctional officer with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and retired in 2020. She immediately returned to her first love of caring for others by working as a caregiver. She remained in this position until her health began to fail.
On December 11, 2025, Cherylene Skinner entered into eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her mother. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Brandon Skinner and Teshala Skinner, Keyondus Clerkley, all of Spring, Texas, Cornelius “C.J.” Skinner of Palestine; father, Jefferson Skinner of Tadmor, Texas; 3 grandchildren; three brothers: Kenneth (Sandra) of Lancaster, Texas, Tommy (Gail) of Lufkin, Darryl (Donna) of Dallas, Texas; three sisters: Joyce (Leslie) of Oak Leaf, Texas, Debra of DeSoto, Texas and Sondra (Tony) of Waxahachie, Texas; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; special aunts, Cheryl Lamb and Wanda Faye Lamb; special cousin, Keisha Thomas.
