Chiquitha "Quita" Lavette Duffy was born on March 12, 1988 in Houston, Texas to Melva Duffy and Abevory Guillory. From the very beginning, Quita was blessed with a radiant smile, a joyful spirit, and a heart full of love. She was the seventh child of her mother and the eldest of her father, holding a special place in both of their hearts.
Raised in a loving home, Quita's faith if God guided her throughout her life. She was a Christian whose compassion, kindness, and joy touched everyone she met. A true "Daddy and Mama's girl", she carried with her a deep devotion to family. She was know for putting the needs of others before her own and loving unconditionally. Quita was full of life and loved makeup, hair, and fashion,. She always took pride in her appearance. She was affectionately called a "diva", yet her beauty was matched by her empathy and giving spirit. Everywhere she went, she lit up the room with laughter, jokes, and her unforgettable presence. She was the life of the party, always ready to dance, sing, and create memories with her family and friends.
Her nieces and nephews held a special place in her heart and she poured love into each of them. She was devoted to her family and cherished vacations, outings, and time spent together. Her natural ability to uplift others and her willingness to lend a helping hand will forever be remembered.
Quita was a proud graduate of Thurgood Marshall High School in the Fort Bend ISD. She went on to dedicate more than ten years of service as a dispatcher with the Harris County Toll Road Authority. During her career, she was known not only for her reliability and dedication, but also for being kind-hearted.
Quita was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents (Vernice Gaines Colbert and Joseph Colbert), paternal grandparents (Harriette Hilliard and Horace Hilliard), and great-niece (K'mir D. Haley).
Left to cherish her memory are her loving parents, Melva Duffy and Abevory Guillory; step-father, Edward Duffy; siblings, Vanessa Gaines, Zcara Wiseman (Wesley), Candace Duffy, Elliott Gaines, Eric Duffy, Jonathan Duffy and Abevory Guillory, Jr.; aunts, Trisa Gaines Colbert and Deshunta Robles; uncles, Michael Henderson and Datrick Guillory, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Quita's light, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to have known her.
