Alvin Wayne Murphy, the tenth of ten children, was born to Harrison and Janie Bell Murphy on November 15, 1957 in the Wheeler Springs Community of Crockett, Texas.
Being the baby of the family, from his earliest days, Alvin brought a beacon of joy to home life whether it was doing farm work, attending church, school, or other community activities.
Following the influences of his parents and older siblings, Alvin attended and graduated from Crockett public schools. In 1981, he moved to El Paso, Texas with his sister, Laura, who encouraged him to pursue and establish his own career. He experienced his greatest achievement by completing a course of study in Small Engine Repair from Gary Job Corps in San Marcos, Texas. After several years, Alvin returned to his home town of Crockett where he enjoyed a tenure of working at Hadid’s Grocery and the Crockett Courier newspaper.
Through the years, Alvin showed a quiet and steadfast spirit which seemed to have been a source of strength for him during both good and bad days. His kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand when needed will forever connect our memories to him.
On August 19, 2024, Alvin Wayne Murphy entered into eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his parents (Harrison and Janie Bell Murphy) , grandparents (Joe and Eula Warner); sister (Regina Faye Murphy Cotton); 4 brothers (Cleon Murphy, Joe I. Murphy, Raymond Murphy and Henry James Murphy).
