Alice Marie Thomas was born on December 6, 1952 in Lecompte, Louisiana to the parentage of Oscar Thomas and Velma Wilson Thomas. She attended Carter B. Raymond Elementary, Middle and High Schools. She furthered her education at Houston Community College.
Alice enjoyed dancing, singing, and eating out. For 37 years, she was a teacher at Sharp Early Childhood Development Center, which she truly enjoyed. She met and married Kenneth Wade Mimes, Sr. and together, they nurtured their blended family.
On November 8, 2024, Alice Marie Mimes entered into eternal rest. She was preceded in transition by her parents, sister (Wanda Taylor), brothers (Herman Williams, Clarence Williams, Jessie Williams), and life partner (Freddy Turner).
Left to honor her life and cherish her memory are her children: Kenneth Mimes, Jr. (Shanisha), Jon Mimes, Kathy Sibley, Carla Turner and Anita Turner; grandchildren: Jorde’ Mimes and Brenda Shepherd; sister, Shirley Thomas; brother, Kenneth Darkins, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
