Addie Lee Gentry was born on August 20, 1932 in Burton, Texas to the parentage of Admiral Alfred and Lula Mae Gentry. At an early age, Addie accepted Christ. She was a woman of true grace and supported her pastor, the late Reverend Robert Sanford, under his pastoral guidance at New Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was a mainstay in church activities and participated in many auxiliaries. Sis. Sanford remained a dedicated member and fervant servant of God at New Mt. Zion under the leadership of her grandson, Pastor John Blouin.
Sis. Sanford enjoyed singing, attending family and church gatherings, and attending worship services until her health began to fail.
On November 4, 2024, Sis. Addie Lee Sanford answered the call to join her husband, Pastor Robert Sanford, in the sweet by and by. She was also preceded in transition by her daughter (Wilma Menefee), parents, and siblings (Evelyn Thompson, Willie Mae Bowser, Ruby Fleming, Bernice Solomon, Gladys Butler, Mac Gentry, Tommy Tuttle).
Left to honor her life and cherish her memory are her daughter, Chante Smith; grandchildren: Laquel Johnson, Pastor John Blouin (Shana), Sheree Roberts, Robert Menefee; brother, Milton Clint Alfred, and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends who will truly miss her.
