Wilma Joyce Jones was born on November 28, 1948 in Washington County, Texas to the parentage of Reese Jones and Addie Sanford. She attended Miller Junior High, Jack Yates High School and furthered her education at Durham Business School.
At an early age, Wilma accepted Christ and was baptized by her father, Reverend Robert Sanford. She maintained her faith throughout her life and was a consistent attendee in worship services.
