VIRGINIA DAVIS

On September 9, 1938, God breathed the breath of life into Virginia Lee Cay, born in Sealy, Texas, to Clarence and Vercias Cay. Raised in a home built on faith, family pride, and deep community values, Virginia grew into a woman of immense grace and dignity.  As a young woman, she confessed her faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized on May 10, 1956, sealing a lifelong covenant with her Lord and Savior.

A proud graduate of the historic Booker T. Washington High School, she spent the majority of her blessed life as a pillar of the Houston Heights community. As the big sister to William “Bill” and Arleine, Virginia carried a quiet strength and a steady, nurturing presence.

On April 19, 1958, Virginia was united in holy matrimony to Austin Davis. For decades, they walked hand-in-hand.  This union was blessed by God in the form of two children: Kenneth Earl Davis and Sharon Annette Davis.  Virginia poured her heart, prayers, and wisdom into her children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren. Her greatest joy was witnessing the milestones, hearing the laughter, and celebrating the achievements of the generations.

Virginia was a woman of diverse talents and passions. For many years, she brought her sharp mind and dedication to the automotive parts industry, ultimately retiring from Star Automotive, where she formed meaningful friendships. To know her was to know her vibrant spirit. The ultimate Houston  Rockets and Houston Texans fan, she spent countless evenings passionately "coaching and refereeing" the games straight from her living room couch. She also possessed a deep appreciation for God’s     creation; she loved tending to her garden, cultivating beautiful flowers that mirrored her own blossoming spirit, and doting on her beloved poodle,Tiger.

The Lord blessed Virginia with a brilliant mind and an infectious laugh that could light up any room. She was renowned for her impeccable penmanship and her miraculous memory for dates, especially the birthdays of her loved ones. If it was your special day, you could always expect a phone call, a beautifully sung "Happy Birthday," or both. She never let a milestone pass without making her family feel seen, known, and deeply loved. She was an active member of Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church (The Mountain Church) where she thrived in the Seasoned Saints ministry.

On June 26, 2026, the Lord whispered, "Well done, thy good and faithful servant," and called Virginia from labor to reward. She has crossed the chilly Jordan to be reunited in glory with her beloved husband, Austin Davis, and her cherished son, Kenneth Earl Davis.

Left to cherish her beautiful memory and carry the torch of her faith are:  Her devoted daughter, Sharon Lovelady (Kenneth)’ grandchildren: Tamika Davis, Kenneth Davis Jr., Imoya Lovelady, and Austin  Lovelady; seven great-grandchildren: Richard, Donovan, Trinity, Kenneth III, Brayden, Cataleya, and  Kameron; great-great-grandchild, Ivy; loving brother, William Cay Sr.; devoted sister, Arleine Ray; her faithful nephew and niece, Jeffrey and Sonya Ray, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended church family, and dear friends.

Virginia’s physical presence will be deeply missed, but her love is woven into the very fabric of our   family. We do not sorrow as those who have no hope, for we know she is resting comfortably in the arms of Jesus.
