ROSA ISABEL (MITCHELL) FRAZIER

Rosa Isabel Mitchell; was born on April 11, 1945, in Edna, Texas to the parentage of  Fred and Agnes Mitchell. She was the second of fourteen children and was raised in a loving family where faith, perseverance, and hard work were deeply valued.

At an early age, Rosa accepted Christ and began her spiritual journey at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Edna, Texas. After relocating to Houston in 1963, she faithfully attended Lily Grove Missionary Baptist Church for many years before joining Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church. She loved serving the Lord and actively participated in church ministries and functions. She served as a choir member and deaconess and took great joy in sharing her faith with her grandchildren, faithfully bringing them to church each Sunday.

Rosa attended George Washington Carver School in Edna, Texas, where she excelled in basketball, track, and softball. Known for her determination, athletic ability, and ambitious spirit, she   pursued her dream of becoming a nurse after moving to Houston. She attended Galveston Community College and earned her nursing degree in 1968.

With a compassionate heart and an unwavering commitment to helping others, Rosa  dedicated more than forty years to the nursing profession. She served as a Nursing Supervisor for over twenty years and worked for several respected healthcare organizations, including St. Joseph Hospital, Ben Taub Hospital, and the Visiting Nurse  Association. Through her kindness, professionalism, and dedication, she touched the lives of countless patients, families, coworkers, and friends.

In 1968, Rosa married Curtis L. Rogers. This union welcomed a beloved daughter; Kendra Shawn Rogers. Later, she met and married the love of her life, Franklin D. Frazier on  November 21, 1987. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, friendship, and love.

Rosa embraced her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother with immense pride and joy. She loved spending time with family, taking road trips, traveling with friends, and creating lasting memories. An avid bowler, Rosa participated in numerous bowling leagues and earned many trophies and awards throughout the years. Whether traveling, bowling, serving her church, or simply enjoying time with loved ones, she brought warmth, laughter, and encouragement wherever she went.

On May 20, 2026, Rosa entered into eternal rest.  She was preceded in death by her parents,  4 brothers (Wendell Reece, Melvin Cook, James Cook, and Anderson Cook); and two sisters (Sophia and Sophie).

Left to cherish her precious memory are her devoted husband, Franklin D. Frazier; her son, Troy Alexander; daughter, Kendra Shawn Rogers; grandchildren: Brandon Alexander, Kimberly Myron Reagins, Chrishana Dotson, Keyonna Warren, and Keidra Warren; seven great-grandchildren: Bryce Alexander, Everett Alexander, Jaiden Reagins, Myron Reagins, Elijah    Alexander, Kane Metoyer, and Kareem Metoyer;  four sisters: Willie Barnes, Carrie Rogers, Pearl Hill, Dorothy Norman; three brothers: Freddie Joe Mitchell, Roy Lee Mitchell, Ronald Mitchell, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Rosa's life was a testimony of faith, service, compassion, strength, and unconditional love. She poured into others selflessly, whether through her nursing career, her church service, her friendships, or her devotion to her family. The impact of her love and guidance will continue to be felt for generations to come.
