Barkley Mortuary opened in 1978 in Crockett, Texas by Jacob E. and Jessie M. Barkley. Mr. Barkley, a car salesman, and Mrs. Barkley, an elementary school teacher. They worked both jobs for many years building a foundation of honesty, hard work and commitment to excellence. From the onset, Jessie & Espanola Gainous were integral components of the daily operations. Their untiring, selfless and total dedication made Barkley Mortuary a gathering place to the community.

Barkley Memorial Funeral Home located in Houston Texas, opened in 2005 and has provided dedicated and compassionate care to families of Houston and surrounding communities. Our funeral home offers a range of personalized services for families to honor their loved ones and remember a life well lived. Whether you’re making your arrangements at time of need or in advance, our caring staff is here to walk with you through the journey.

In 2022, both locations remain independently family owned and operated. Gerald Barkley & his son, Jarred Barkley, are the funeral directors in charge and continue to practice and maintain the highest level of dedication, professionalism and community service to those in need.
